“Upbeat snappy indie-folk, from the US so none of our homegrown navel gazing here, musically a mash up of Folk, Indie, pop, and a dash of Bluegrass, sounds not unlike a female Paul Simon in places, uplifting and engaging. “
-The Dublin Castle 2017

“Julia Russo is breaking the chains as an emerging artist and demonstrating how the reinterpretation of words is a storyteller’s playground and can be twisted and turned into a melodic creation of humble incidence…”
-The Dedham Patch 2017
Julia Russo, at only 19 years of age, has been singing and songwriting for several years now and recently released her first album, entitled Hearts in the Water, May 2016, to acclaim. Currently touring and promoting since the launch of her album, Julia has been performing throughout New England, Nashville, and just recently London at venues such as The Dublin Castle, The Alley Cat and Twickfolk where she opened for Sam Kelly, one of the winners of Britain's Got Talent. Standing on the stage where artists like Amy Winehouse and The Stones performed, was a dream come true. An invitation to return was accepted and Julia headed back to the UK in the early summer for another small tour.

Her album drop began a spiral of success for Julia with dual nominations of her freshman album by the International Music and Entertainment Association (IMEA) for Folk Album of the Year and Folk Artist of the Year. As one of several headliners asked to perform for the awards, which took place in October 2016, Julia took home the award for Folk Album of the Year.

This emerging Indie artist’s haunting melodies have been well received in venues across New England. She was recently nominated as one of Pavoh's semi-finalists and performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston on February 27, 2017, as the only CT native to be nominated for this 21 and under award showcase.
In addition. she also performed at the 2017 New England Music Awards in Foxborough, MA at Patriots Place: Showcase Live, where she won Songwriter of the Year and was nominated for, Female Performer of the Year. Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Pop Act of the Year.

Influenced by artists such as Adele, Mumford and Sons and Head and the Heart, Julia brilliantly engages her audience with thought provoking lyrics leaving fans to wonder how someone so young can reach into their hearts and formulate lyrics sung as though arranged just for them
